Seaport of Conakry
Conakry is a seaport with the code GNCON, located in Guinea. It is the biggest port in the country. The city’s entire economy revolves around this facility and is driven by it. The port has modern equipment for handling and storing of cargo. Thanks to that, it is possible to export bananas in an appropriate way.
The city produces mainly food products and housing materials. The city itself is the capital of Guinea, and is located in the western part of the country by the Atlantic Ocean. A significant part of the city is located on the Tombo Island, and its population numbers around 1.7 million residents. Conakry has a tropical monsoon climate. It also has a few universities, parks, museums and other cultural institutions. In 2002, the residents of Conakry struggled with a temporary shortage in the delivery of electricity and water, caused by the dated urban infrastructure which started falling apart.
