Jebel Ali is a seaport with the code AEJEA. The port is located in the United Arab Emirates, on the northwestern coast of the country, within the Emirate of Dubai. The port was created in 1976-1979. It is the largest artificial port in the world. Together with the free-trade area, it constitutes one of the largest industrial complexes in the Middle East. In 2007, the port served 8696 ships with a total deadweight tonnage of 227,894,526 tons. The entry channel and the outer basin are 17 meters deep. The port is able to accept ships with a deadweight tonnage of 545 thousand tons and with a maximum length of 414 meters. The port has four main parts: Megamax Terminal, Outer Basin, North Basin and South Basin. The port is quite often used by the US Navy. Outside of the US, this port is the most often visited one by American ships. Thanks to its accessibility, even Nimitz aircraft carriers can call into this port.
