Tokyo is a seaport, with the code JPTYO, that is located in Japan. It is one of the biggest Japanese ports and is also one of the biggest seaports in the Pacific Ocean. It has a yearly throughput of 100 million tons of cargo and 4,500,000 TEU. The port employs 30,000 people, making it as one of the most important workplaces in the country. It provides its services to 32,000 ships a year. It is a natural and artificial port, 5292 hectares in size and with 205 berths. In 2008, it accepted 31,653 ships, and in 2007, it handled 90,801,000 tons of cargo. After World War II, efforts were made to develop the port as it was supposed to serve as an impetus for the growth of Japan’s industry. At that time, construction began on another terminal of the port. Since 1960, the port has been known for its impressive container transport system. The port has three container terminals with a total surface area of 1,504,718 m2. They have 15 berths and a waterfront 4479 meters length.
